May 2nd is National Truffle Day

Today is National Truffle Day. And just like you may not have known there’s an entire day devoted to this chocolatey goodness, there’s a lot about our truffles you may not know. So, in honor of one of our new favorite “holidays”, here are some facts about Chocolate Moonshine NJ truffle bars that will help you fall in love with them:

  • Our truffle bars are hand painted with French cocoa butter. The splashes of vibrant color you see on the outside are also splashes of deliciousness.

  • With the exception of our alcohol-flavors, our truffles bars are gluten free. (The alcohol level is below a legal limit for all to consume. The flavor notes left from the distillation process are clearly able to be tasted, but the actual alcohol is burned off in the process.)

  • Our truffles have only 6 grams of sugar and 6 grams of carbs. We use only natural cane sugar or organic cane sugar. Generally, we are 1/3 to 1/2 lower in sugar content than competing products. Many times manufacturers will use sugar replacements such as High Fructose Corn Syrup to sweeten their products. Not us!

  • Many of our flavors contain dark chocolate. Dark Chocolate contains flavonoids which are known to lower cholesterol. Chocolate can also help to elevate the endorphin levels in an individual's brain, making you happier.

So come on and celebrate National Truffle Day along with us! You can even save 15 percent if you order online now through Mother’s Day with the code MOMROCKS2017. Happy truffling!

Just what is a truffle?

If you're like me, you hear the word "truffle" and think, "Blech! Mushroom!" And, well, you'd be half right. There is a truffle that's a mushroom that truffle pigs are able to hunt down for those inclined to eat the fungi. They say it's a highly-prized food. I'm sticking with "blech".

But then, there's the chocolate truffle, and that's the truffle that makes us happy. Truffles are a dessert delicacy that started in Europe. Thank you, Europe. They're called a truffle because traditionally they are shaped like their tuber-namesake. They're mainly ganache (a chocolate-based cream) and are covered in a coating.

Our truffles (named Moonshine Bars) take this delicacy to the next level. They're shaped like half-rounded bars, are coated in a variety of milk and dark chocolates and are hand painted with cocoa butter. They're a pleasure to look at and beyond delightful to eat. What else makes the Moonshine Bars different from anything else you'll find on the market? They're gluten-free (with the exception of the alcohol flavored bars), contain only 6 grams of sugar, are only 100 calories and are egg free.

Basically, if you're wearing socks, our Moonshine Bars will knock them off! Stop by one of our upcoming shows and see for yourself!
